I hope you had a good Mother’s Day and all is well for you! :)
I wanted to give you a brief update on my week at the European Tour’s Madeira Island Open in Portugal. I played well tying for 16th. The event was shortened to 36 holes due to persistent, dense fog. The course here is incredibly scenic overlooking the Atlantic Ocean! It’s only ½-mile from the water but the 2,000-foot elevation (it’s kind of on a mountain/cliff) causes clouds coming off the ocean to sit over the course and, thus, generates the most dense fog I’ve ever been in. During delays I couldn’t see more than ten feet in front of me! The fog prevented us from playing on Thursday (it didn’t go away all day) and we had many, many delays (as clouds rolled in) during Friday, Saturday and today. In the morning I’ll head over to Barcelona, Spain for the next European Tour event, the Spanish Open (they call it “Open de Espana”), which is televised in the U.S. I may or may not get into the field for the following event – the BMW Championship in England (which is the flagship tournament on the European Tour) – but I’m definitely in the next one in Sweden. Hopefully, I’ll gain entry into consecutive events after that. I am looking forward to the events ahead! :) All the best to you and your family, Brinson
